Hello, My Loves!

Thank you to all who tuned in to Episode #5 of my show "5 With Fay" on Friday!!  As promised, here's a recap of the show with links to my song and my 5 Favorite Finds for last week.  If you missed last week's episode you can watch it HERE.

Song of the Show - "Everything" from my album Scrape Knee'd Girl available here on my Website as well as iTunes & Google Play

5 Favorite Finds:

1. Stellar Organics Winery - I happily stumbled upon Stellar Organics wines in a little Country Market while vacationing in Vermont.  I went in for milk and walked out with bottles of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.  Thought there were several wines on the shelves, Stellar Organics jumped out at me.  With words like "Organic", "Fair Trade" and "No added Sulfur Dioxide", on the label, I couldn't resist grabbing a few bottles to try. I hadn't intended to fall head over heals in love with Stellar Organics Winery,  but I couldn't help myself!  Their wines are flavorful and delicious and If you have never tried a wine made without added sulfites (google it), I recommend you give them a try.  The taste (in my opinion) tends to be cleaner and more crisp, and reminds me of homemade wine.  Don't worry though, if added sulfites are your thing, Stellar Organics can hook you up.  They make equally beautiful wines the old school way (with the added sulfites). Whether you prefer your wines with or without added sulfites, all of Stellar Organics wines are certified Organic and Fair Trade.  The grapes are grown with love and the people at Stellar Organics (all along the supply chain) are treated fairly, with respect, dignity and livable wages!  When you drink Stellar Organics you know that you are getting an exquisite  bottle of wine with heart and soul!  And what doesn't pair with that?? Check out their website (www.stellarorganics.com) for local retailers.

2. Spot It! (by Blue Orange Games) - We love games at Chez Fay and Spot It! is our new favorite!  My kids (3 year old & 7 year old), my husband and I have been engaging in epic Spot It! battles lately.  The game is fast paced, fun and keeps the kids engaged!  Each tin of cards comes with 5 different games, so it's easy to mix things up and keep the kids (and ourselves) entertained!  Best thing, the instructions are super easy to read and don't require a magnifying glass and PhD to read and understand (Thank God!)  The games are for 2-8 players and are available in sets geared toward different age ranges and interests!  They even have special limited edition versions of the game.  Blue Orange Games is an awesome company that cares about leaving the planet healthy and thriving for our children!  In 2007 they implemented a program to benefit the planet and make the business more sustainable.  They plant 2 trees for EVERY tree used to create their wooden products and game cards.  To date, they have planted over 100,000 trees!  They also partner with Pure Project to calculate and offset their carbon emissions!  Thank you, Blue Orange Games, for making super fun games and for caring about the planet for our children's future!

3. Steve's Ice CreamHoly Yum!  Steve's Ice Cream has started an ice cream flavor revolution! With flavors like Coffee & Donuts (yes, coffee ice cream with donut pieces!), Scotch Chocolate (chocolate blended with scotch whiskey), Sunday Morning (buttered maple syrup ice cream with waffle pieces) and Mexican Chili Chocolate (dark chocolate ice cream spiced with cayenne, cinnamon and taza guajillo chili chocolate pieces), Steve's has mastered the art of flavor combinations!  They make all of their ice cream in small batches and they partner with local craft producers to source fresh ingredients for all of their flavors.  Steve's ice cream is made with care, precision and love!  Steve's Ice Cream is a member of 1% For The Planet which means they donate 1% of their sales to Environmental groups around the world!  How sweet is that!?  Check out Steve's website for local retailers.

4. Hell Bunny Dresses/Old Gold -  My #4 favorite for this week is two-fold, featuring one of my favorite dress designers Hell Bunny and my favorite vintage shop of all time Old Gold (located in Burlington Vermont).  Hell Bunny is a UK based clothing designer specializing in retro/rockabilly/punk clothing for women.  Their designs are fun, unique and beautifully made. I'm looking forward to rocking some Hell Bunny dresses on stage soon!  Because they are a wholesaler, you'll have to Google where to find retailers that carry their line.  A little bit of research is worth it though, because Hell Bunny dresses are hot!  Of course if you are in the Burlington, VT area, be sure to visit Old Gold where you'll find Hell Bunny apparel and a plethora of amazing vintage inspired clothing for both men and women!  Old Gold is a vintage wonderland!  They have everything from hard to find vintage concert tee's to 1950's inspired cocktail dresses to full on costumes. They have a few items up on their website but for the full experience, plan a trip to their shop!

5. Gig Finder App - If you are a musician looking to book gigs, this FREE app is an absolute must!  Available on iTunes and GooglePlay, Gig Finder is like having a booking agent in your pocket. The app allows you to locate, research and submit to music venues, with just a few clicks of a button.  The app links up to your ReverbNation artist profile and sends the booker your info, songs, videos, press etc...  The "business" of being an independent musician can be extremely time consuming. The Gig Finder app makes it possible to spend less time in front of a computer and MORE time honing your craft and making music!  Score!

...AND THERE, MY LOVES, ARE MY 5 FAVORITE FINDS FOR THIS WEEK! :)

Happy Monday,  My Loves!

Thank you to all who tuned in to Episode #4 of my show "5 With Fay" on Friday!!  As promised, here's a recap of the show with links to my song and my 5 Favorite Finds for last week.  If you missed last week's episode you can watch it HERE.

Song of the Show - "California Days" from my album Scrape Knee'd Girl available here on my Website as well as iTunes & Google Play

I normally showcase 5 of my favorite products from 5 different companies, but this week I'm featuring 5 different products from one company, Made In California...my very first "5 With Fay" Sponsor!

About Made In California -

Made in California is a creative company started in 2014, based in the heart of San Diego, California, where Kevan Christine (Made In California's Founder) was born and raised. Made in California was created out of the desire to harness the energy of the California vibe and infuse that into creative endeavors, projects and products. As a born and raised California girl, KC pulls inspiration from everything around her - from the beaches of San Diego and the rugged beauty of Big Sur, to the magical vibe of San Francisco and the stillness of the mojave desert... to everything in between. Believing the philosophy that everything should have a wonderful story behind it’s origin, she applies that to everything that she does within the Made in California realm - from consulting for independent musicians and art directing album covers, to photographing tours and collaborating with artisans on beautiful items that are worth owning.  Needless to say, I am thrilled to have Made In California as a sponsor.

5 Favorite Finds:

1. Made In California Services - (Consulting + Design + Photography + Motion Pictures)  I have been lucky enough to work with the Kevan Christine (the genius behind the Made In California brand) for many years.  She did the beautiful album design for my first album Scrape Knee'd Girl and more recently has taken me on as one of her musician clients.  Before having Kevan as part of my team, managing the "business" side of being an independent  musician - website redesign, press kits, emails, merch, social media, booking - was keeping me from actually finding time to do what I love...play and write music!  Kevan swooped in like a fairy godmother and whipped my musical "business" into shape!  I have wished for a long time that EVERY single one of my musician friends had Kevan in their corner...and now they can!!  Seriously, life changing stuff here!

2. Made In California Bag -  Wear your California pride where ever you go with this sturdy cotton tote. Even if you’re not a native, you can carry this California loving bag with style!  Hand screen printed utilizing water-based inks (yay for non-toxic!), each bag is made to order - inked and heat set. No two are ever completely the same. Comes packaged in beautifully recyclable and reusable wrapping with care instructions. Available in gold/black and black/white. If you're a yoga or meditation lover be sure to check out the Om Sweet Om bag

3. Om Sweet Om Relaxation PillowMelt stress away with the lavender filled Om Sweet Om Relaxation Pillow.  Toss it in the microwave, heat it up and get ready for what feels like a lavender hug!  Or put in the freezer for an instant pick-me-up. Each inner bag contains approximately 24 oz of a special organic rice and hand dried organic lavender mix that is grown locally.  Removable and washable cover is hand dyed utilizing water-based dyes. Each pillow is made to order - dyed, filled and sewn.  Made by hand to order in California. Completely kiddo safe!  My daughter is a fussy sleeper and she loves to snuggle up with this warm pillow.  New scents coming the summer - spearmint, grapefruit and lemon!

4. California Necklace -  In collaboration with Emmy Bean Jewelry  Take a little bit of the California vibe with you where ever you go with this .925 sterling silver necklace available in 16” and 18” chain length with lobster clasp. Hand created from raw materials (made in the US), each necklace is made to order - shaped, sanded, stamped and oxidized. No two are ever completely the same.  Comes packaged in a hand sewn drawstring bag with polishing cloth and care instructions. Made by hand to order in Pennsylvania.  Sterling silver is water and sweat resistant so you can wear this 24/7! Customize your California necklace and create your own perfect statement, unique to you by picking your favorite words, places and landmarks.  Each necklace can link up to 8 bars.  So cool!!

5. Made In California Cuff - In collaboration with Emmy Bean Jewelry  Embracing the energy of the California vibe, the Made in California cuff is great to wear solo, to stack, to dress up or dress down!  Stack a mix of the metals for a super funky look!  Hand created from raw materials (made in the US! woot! ), each cuff is made to order - shaped, sanded, stamped and oxidized. Because they are handcrafted, no two are ever completely the same,  They are truly unique...just like you!  Available in Brass, Copper and .925 Sterling Silver.  Comes packaged in a hand sewn drawstring bag with polishing cloth and care instructions.  Create your own custom stack with additional cuffs like "California Dreaming" and "California Love"!

"5 With Fay" Recap - Episode #2

Happy Monday,  My Loves!

Thank you to all who tuned in to Episode #2 of my new show "5 With Fay" on Friday!!  As promised, here's a recap of the show with links to my song and my 5 Favorite Finds for last week.  If you missed last week's episode you can watch it HERE.

Song of the Show - "You" from my album Scrape Knee'd Girl available here on my Website as well as iTunes & Google Play

5 Favorite Finds:

1. SeaSnax "Strangely Addictive" is their tagline...and they don't lie!  These salty, crispy deliciously toasty little seaweed snacks are totally addictive.  They're not only tasty, they are super nutritious - gluten-free, non GMO, vegan, no artificial flavors, sugar-free...and yummy!  You can't beat that!  Oh and did I mention that one single pack has...wait for it....only 16 calories?! Seasnax are total guilt-free snacking.  My 3 year old and 7 year old love them - Score!  They are a great grab and go snack, perfect for lunches and good for the soul.  SeaSnax donates 10% of their annual net profit to non-profits who are "committed to making the world a better and gentler place for our children and our earth" (directly from their website!).  Truly Delicious!

2. Burt's Bee's 100% Natural Lip Gloss -  Looking for a long lasting, light, non-goopy (yes, that's a technical term) lip gloss for the summer?  Burt's Bee's has one!  Their 100% Natural Lip Gloss comes in a variety of beautiful, shimmery colors that go on light and stay on for hours.  The gloss subtly tints your lips so one application is all you need.  I put a little on before a gig, sing my heart out for 2 hours, and come off stage with lips full o' color!  At $9.00 each you get a great beauty product from an even greater company.  Burt's Bee's has a long history of running their company with social and environmental responsibility.  They base their business model on the philosophy that they are doing it all for "The Greater Good".  As a testament to that, if you buy 2 lip products from their website, Burt's Bee's will donate 2 lip colors to Lipstick Angels - a non-profit dedicated to bringing beauty into the lives of woman facing serious illness. Burt's Bee's - beautiful inside and out!

3. Wrecords by Monkey Wrecords by Monkey is an awesome Brooklyn based company that takes old, unwanted vinyl records and upcycles them to create new super-cool products.  They make everything from beautiful jewelry, to wall art, to notebooks to coasters...ALL from vinyl records that would otherwise end up in a landfill.  So cool!  I bought 2 cuff bracelets ($25.00 each) and I absolutely LOVE them.  They're comfortable, funky and really unique.  Peruse their website and you're sure to find something for yourself or a friend.  These are great, innovative gifts for any music lover!

4. Bands In Town App -  Don't have time (or energy) to track your favorite bands on tour, but get mad at yourself when you realize you've missed them live? Bands In Town is a FREE app that makes it simple to track your favorite bands and ensures that you get notified when they are coming to your town.  You can pick specific bands to track and also widen your search to discover new local music.  It's social too!  Connect your account to Facebook and you can RSVP to shows and keep up with the shows your friends are planning on checking out.  (Bonus - you can track me, on Bands In Town to find out when I'll be coming to YOUR town!)

5. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield - Simply put, this book is a kick in the pants.  If you are a creative person with a dream, it's a must read.  Whether you are a musician, a painter, a writer or an entrepreneur...it can be a battle to silence the inner naysayer that tries to sabotage our creative goals.  The War of Art will give you inspiration, motivation, and the tools necessary to fight the internal war that can rage in our creative souls.  This book is my creative bible and reminds me that I have to follow my creative heart, as if my life depended on it.  Pick up a copy online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble or www.stevenpressfield.com.

"5 With Fay" Recap - Premiere Episode

Hello My Loves!

Thank you to all who tuned in to the premiere episode of my new show "5 With Fay"!!  As promised, here's a recap of the show with links to my song and my 5 Favorite Finds for last week.

Song of the Show - "Drive You Out Of My Mind" from my album Cherish The Broken available here on my Website as well as iTunes & Google Play

5 Favorite Finds:

1. Bissinger's Chocolate - Delicious chocolate with a conscience!  Bissinger's Chocolates joins forces with the Rainforest Alliance organization to ensure that their cocoa is from sustainable and socially responsible farms.  How delicious is that?!  Check out their mouth-watering array of chocolates and chocolate bars!  YUM!!

2. HooplaHa.com - Let's face it.  The world can be a pretty depressing place.  Watching the 5:00 news can make you want to curl up into the fetal position and never leave the house again. HooplaHa.com is like a dose of medicine to ease the "world's going to hell in a hand basket" blues.  Their motto is "Life With A Smile" and that's exactly what they deliver.  Making the world a better place, one smile at a time, is their mission and with a website chock full o' feel good content you can't help but feel the LOVE!  Everything from videos of babies to inspirational articles on aging, HooplaHa.com is your one stop for FREE Feel Goodz!  I dare you to visit their site and NOT walk away with a smile (seriously, if you can NOT smile while on the HooplaHa.com website....you may want to see a Doctor. You might be dead inside.)

*as a bonus, I had the pleasure of talking with the Managing Director of HooplaHa and he is one of the nicest, most compassionate and humble people I have ever spoken with.  The people behind HooplaHa.com are the real deal and their only mission is to make the world a happier place. LOVE!

3. Usborne Activity Cards - If you have kids that get bored easily, give these Activity Cards by Usborne a try!  They are dry-erase and re-usable which means your kids can get a ton of mileage out of them.  Available in a wide variety of packs, (Travel Doodles, 50 Things To Do On A Plane, 50 Secret Codes...to name a few) these cards are sure to keep your kids busy during travel or at home. Going on a trip?  Throw a couple of packs in your carry-on or stow them in the car.  The cards are creative, clever and challenge your child's imagination.  At $9.99 a pack, they are well worth the hours of fun they provide!

4. Band Of The Day - App - As a musician, I'm constantly looking for new music to inspire me.  Back in the day I used to go to a record store (what's a record store?) and roam the aisles for hours searching for new music.  I was even brave enough to put on the public headphones (eeew!) at a "Listening Station" or two.  Nowadays, public headphones aren't necessary (Thank God!).  Thanks to my new favorite music app Band Of The Day, new music finds ME!  Every day, I get a notification and magically a new band appears.  I can listen to a few tracks from my phone and share or buy if I like what I hear!  With genres ranging from Singer/Songwriter to Hip Pop to Rock to Electronic to Country (and pretty much everything in between)...there's something for everyone!  And the best part...it's FREE!  (Available on iTunes & GooglePlay)

5. FretRest Folding Guitar Stand by Proline - As a guitar player, this is one of my favorite must-haves!  I take this little guitar stand with me every time I leave the house with my guitar.  I fold it up, stick it in my bag and I'm off to a gig or rehearsal.  You know I'll be packing a few of these with me when I head out on tour this Fall!!  They are only $17.99 and available at Guitar Center, Sam Ash, Amazon etc...

....AND THERE, MY LOVES, ARE MY 5 FAVORITE FINDS FOR THIS WEEK! :)

If you missed last weeks episode you can watch it HERE (just ignore the technical difficulty on the song portion - audio will be fixed for next week!)

"5 With Fay" Recap - Episode #3

Happy Monday,  My Loves!

Thank you to all who tuned in to Episode #3 of my new show "5 With Fay" on Friday!!  As promised, here's a recap of the show with links to my song and my 5 Favorite Finds for last week.  If you missed last week's episode you can watch it HERE.

Song of the Show - "Don't Cry" from my album Scrape Knee'd Girl available here on my Website as well as iTunes & Google Play

5 Favorite Finds:

1. Dogfish Head Brewery - Ok, I'll just say it...I have a TOTAL crush on Dogfish Head.  Their brews are so beautifully crafted and have such subtle combinations of delicious ingredients, that I would go so far as to call each Dogfish Head brew a work of art.  Try any of their 9 artfully crafted "year round" brews or crack open one of their "seasonal/occasional" beers and you'll see that Dogfish Head are beer making gods!  And did I mention they are also super nice people? They frequently partner with non-profits and every year they organize the "Dogfish Dash", a run that raises money for the Delaware chapter of the Nature Conservancy.  Since 2007, they have raised over $200,000 for the cause!  Amazing beer brewers with hearts of gold??  Be still my heart, Dogfish Head!  I'm swoooning!

2. PuraVida Bracelets - I am totally obsessed with PuraVida Bracelets!  These gorgeous bracelets, handmade in Costa Rica, are mixable, matchable and stackable!  They come in a variety of colors and designs and are available with both silver and gold charms and a variety of bead combos.  Starting at $5.00, all of the bracelets are lightweight, 100% waterproof and adjustable to fit any size wrist - perfect for summer!  Yes, they make gorgeous bracelets, but the folks at PuraVida are on a mission!  Their "Charity Line" of bracelets are designed to support a wide range of charities - from environmental causes to social causes to raising awareness for specific diseases, PuraVida makes it possible to support your favorite cause- in style!  In 2013 alone, PuraVida raised money for over 190 charity organizations!   So, you can literally wear your heart on your...sleeve...er...wrist!  Well done, PuraVida!

3. Good Guide App - This FREE app makes being a responsible consumer a snap! The Good Guide App's missions is to "help you shop your values, wherever you shop".  I love putting my money where my mouth is, but since I usually shop with 2 young kids in tow, I don't have the luxury to peruse store aisles researching companies and their values.  My one objective when shopping with my kids is to get in, get out and avoid a tantrum.  WIth a scan of a barcode, however, the Good Guide app enables me to quickly pull up the social, environmental and health ratings of MOST companies.  I can make a quick, effortless and informed decision on which company I want to support based on how their values match mine.  And my kids get in on the action too! We make a guessing game out of how a company might rate!  Yes, it's fun, but more importantly, it's planting a seed in the minds of my kids that it's possible, important and easy to be a responsible consumer!  So freaking cool!  Thank you Good Guide for making me a better mother, consumer and human being.  I owe you one!  *wink

4. Snark Guitar Tuners -  Best. Guitar. Tuner. Ever. End of story.  This tuner has a bright, easy to read display, it's precise and fits my guitar like a dream.  Need I say more?  Available in a variety of cool colors too!  Bonus!

5. Scribblegraph - I have amazingly talented friends.  I'm so lucky to call Scribblegraph (aka Ashlan Nathens) one of them.  I fell in love with the Scribblegraph's scribbles a few years ago. His illustrations are beautiful and profound, beyond words.  I knew that when it came time to design my album artwork for Cherish The Broken,  Scribblegraph was the ONLY artist I trusted with my musical baby.  I couldn't be happier with what he was able to dream up.  And working with him was a dream too...despite the 12 hour time difference!  Check out some of the beautiful scribbles on his website and I promise you'll fall in love too!  Oh, and he takes scribble requests! LOVE!
